About The Pound Dogs
Based in the upper Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia, The Pound Dogs are a pair of weirdo writer-musicians who like to jam and make shit up together from time to time. Influences include folk, pop, blues, funk, rock, horribly depressing poetry, narrative hooks (or lack thereof), Celtic, Scandinavian, bluegrass, and beyond.
We do a mix of covers and originals, and are old farts so will play whatever the hell we feel like playing. But tastefully.
More specifically, we are:
James Roy (vocals, guitars, violin, bad jokes... and a few decent ones... ok not decent, but still, not terrible)
and Gaines Post (flute, vocals, guitar, a shit sense of humour).
Upcoming Performances:
On Sunday, the 15th of December, 2024, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., The Pound Dogs will be playing at On the Soul Side Café in Katoomba. It's a cool place with a great vibe.
We don't have any further upcoming shows booked for now, but stay tuned! The moment we have some dates, we will post them here on this website.

Gaines occasionally blogs at otherspect.com and posts music videos on his YouTube channel. He also is currently performing every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon at On the Soul Side Café in Katoomba. There is delicious coffee and cake and other goodies :-) And The Wrinklepickers play immediately afterward, from noon until 2:00, and are absolutely worth the trip.
